As we began to reflect on 50 years of protecting motorcycle riders and their bikes, we felt it was important to give back in some way. The Dairyland Cycle staff put their thinking caps on, as opposed to our riding helmets, and came up with the idea of a National Motorcycle Day™. What better way to honor riders everywhere for what you do in your communities.
The second Friday in July will be established as National Motorcycle Day (NMD). This year, that day is July 8th. Our hope is to engage riders through social media to share stories of the good work being done in communities throughout the country. We’re hoping you post stories about your local events, like toy drives, fundraisers and special rides.
Here’s a list of some national or regional charities and fundraisers that come to mind. Perhaps they’ll spur you on to create a fundraiser of your own!
Bikers for Babies – March of Dimes
The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation – Ride for Kids
Muscular Dystrophy Association – MDA Rides
Tomahawk Fall Ride – MDA – This one is in our home state of Wisconsin
Rip's B.A.D Ride – Bikers Against Diabetes
